plasma screen crashes..........

i am a new user of kubuntu. recently i changed from windows. i face some problems with kubuntu. if i try to setup wired network the plasma screen crashes. i dont know why....!!!

i have gnome installed also. sometimes the gnome desktop is shown in the KDE session....

please help me solving these problems...........
