Kopete 0.70.4 can't connect to MSN

Is anyone else experiencing problems when trying to connect to MSN with Kopete 0.70.4 (KDE 4.2.4, libmsn0.1 version 4.0~beta4-0ubuntu4) ? Kopete says it is "Connecting" to MSN, but it doesn't establish connection. In the meantime I use Pidgin which works fine. Any tips?

Installed pidgin and am having the same problem. It will not connect. I wonder if it's a port being blocked on the firewall.

How is you Pidgin set up? Here is my MSN configuration ("advanced" tab:
Server: messenger.hotmail.com
Port: 1863
Use HTTP Method: Yes
HTTP Method Server: gateway.messenger.hotmail.com
Proxy Options: No proxy

I downloaded it off of KPackageKit, but I couldn't get that to work also. It would do the same thing as Kopete would do. So it isn't the messaging software doing it. Something is blocking it from connecting. I don't know what though.

Wait you're using 0.70.4? I'm using 0.70.2. No that can't be it, because pidgin didn't work also. Maybe I'm missing a package?

In Pidgin go to your Yahoo account settings -> advanced tab -> Page server -> and enter the following: 66.163.181.166 -> Restart Pidgin. Works for me.

I just opened Kopete and configured it to use my MSN hotmail.com account. It works, no problem. This is Kopete 0.70.90, running on Kubuntu 9.04 64-bit, KDE 4.2.90 (KDE 4.3 Beta 2) updated as of yesterday.

FYI, from the list of services you choose "Windows Messenger" and then you enter your MSN/hotmail.com account and password.

Yes, I heard Kopete 0.70.90 works, but not 0.70.4 which comes with KDE 4.2.4.

I'll speculate that it is available when you upgrade to KDE 4.3 Beta as per:

that's what I did, and then Kopete was upgraded too.

aaaa that fixed mine .......so when did thay change the server identifacation??

I started out with 0.70.2 and yahoo wouldn't connect. I put the IP address (66.163.181.166) in and it worked for a couple of days. Now when I try to connect it comes up with an error There was an error while connecting username to the Yahoo server. Error message: 10-connection actively refused.
So I updated to KDE 4.3 and the new Kopete but it is still the same. With the default settings it just sits there saying it is connecting but never connects. Yet MSN signs straight in. Looking over the Yahoo messanger site they are saying that they have changed the login servers and protocals, so as Kopete in 8.04 works is there anyway to install it?
By the way Pidgin is the same.
