Kubuntu 9.04 running ASUS M4A78T-E mobo AMD64 cpu
I encountered this when installing the snapshot alsa-utils. Here is the alsa-utils list thread that identifies the bug:
>>> checking for ncursesw5-config... yes
>> >>
>> >> This indicates that ncursesw is installed ...
>> >>
>>> >>> checking for new_panel in -lpanelw... no
>>> >>> configure: error: panelw library not found
>> >>
>> >> ... but actually it isn't.
>> >>
>> >> What is the output of the following commands?
>> >> ...
>> >> locate libpanel.so
>> >> locate libpanelw.so
> >
> > raena@kubuntu:~$ locate libpanel.so
> > /usr/lib/libpanel.so
> > /usr/lib/libpanel.so.5
> > /usr/lib/libpanel.so.5.7
This is OK ...
> > raena@kubuntu:~$ locate libpanelw.so
> > /usr/lib/libpanelw.so.5
> > /usr/lib/libpanelw.so.5.7
... but this isn't: the libpanelw.so link is missing.
