    2.6.28-13 update

Does anyone that has updated to this kernel think
that everything seems faster It also appears that
I'm using less memory. I'll have to see if it seems that
way in the morning. It could be that instead of the
computer being faster I may be slower.

I don't have any data to support it, but I think you're right. It does seem faster.

I don't know about faster, but after upgrading last night, I crashed plasma twice by simply restarting vmware.

I also installed the new nVidia driver 185.18.14 on the new kernel. So, I've got too many variables in motion to know where the bug is. My prime suspect is the nVidia driver, so far, -- more experiments are needed but I'm thinking there are other services besides VMWare that will probably crash plasma, if I restart them.

        Re: 2.6.28-13 update

Since the installation this morning everything looks fine, I've not yet seen a Plasma crash.

KDE4.2.3 is quite workable but 8.04 with KDE3.5 is still snappier.

Update: this morning, a few minutes after starting the computer Plasma had an other crash.

I have changed my theory -- only restarting vmware generates a plasma segfault crash, so now the finger of blame is pointing at VMWare Player.

Happily, Alt-F2 "plasma" restarts plasma with no apparent residual ill effects.
