kpilot, akonadi, kontact and other puzzles

I have a Zire 31 (yes, I am a luddite!!). Before Jaunty, I had little to no problems interfacing my Zire with Kontact (I am particularly concerned with addresses). Now I understand that kpilot seems to have issues with KDE 4.2.2, and I understand that somehow akonadi and mysql are supposed to work with Palm devices and with Kontact, to some extent. When I connect the ZIre via USB to my laptop, and Kpilot is running, the Zire beeps and seems to sync, but nothing happens to the Kontact addresses and nothing happens to the Zire's addresses -- and I know there are differences.

What I don't understand is how to setup akonadi so that Kontact and Zire play nice with each other. What needs to happen? Configuration? Databases? I'm lost.
