Has anyone else had the problem of Firefox constantly crashing, and freezing the system? Mine has done it ever since I installed Kubuntu. I would like to know how to solve this issue if possible. Also Would like to know a "better" browser. I tried konqueror, but could not get my on line banking to work with it. Thanks

Re: Firefox Crashes
I am having a similar problem, whereby whenever I drag text in firefox, it kills everything! My screens go blank, and I get no response from anything. I can't even switch to a console and can only restart my machine by via cold shutdown.
I don't want to use another browser but this is hampering my ability to work, and really getting on my nerves. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be appreciated

Re: Firefox Crashes
I sometimes have Firefox crash 4 or 5 times a day, it usually just exits, then asks if i want to restart it, but occasionally it locks the entire system up necessitating the RSEIUB trick.
I've recently installed Ubuntu 8.04, and it never happened in two whole days, i was highly impressed.... but then i installed Flash and Java... yup, you've guessed.
So it seems to me that it's related to Firefox + either Flash or Java, but i don't know the cure.

Re: Firefox Crashes
See - I've had some problems recently with displaying a website (http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3104346.0) and it really may be that Firefox and Flash are not happy together on Kubuntu 9.04...
I don't know for sure, however

Re: Firefox Crashes
Although Firefox is very stable on my 9.04 system, it has previously been known to suck up surprising amounts of CPU time -- usually this is caused by the "npviewer" process which is a flash function. You can prove it by running "top" in a console window, and watching it while browsing and using flash. I can imagine that if you don't have a very beefy video display system, that might crash it.
