A small Amarok how to question

    Ok.

    Here is the deal.

Been using Amarok for years and still loving it.

However I love to listen to my record collection on random which works very well indeed. Even in new Amarok 2.

However I have music of different genres eg Classical or Jazz and I would like to have the ability to choose each genre and all my id3 tags are all over the place. Si I have say 100 jazz lps in my jazz folder , same in classical , same in world etc. I would like to be able to select radio bleaden ...ie my music randomly but now I would only like radio bleaden jazz or classical etc ie specify a folder to randomly pick music from to listen to .

At the moment I only have Amarok choosing music from a jazz folder for my collection so I can run things randomly

    So ..long story ...any ideas

In summary can I get Amarok to choose randomly from specified folders?

something tells me i must be missing something...

drag&drop the folder into the playlist tab.
then, in the main menu, pick playlist -> random -> tracks/albums
    then play.
    that should be it.

another solution (a lot more lightweight and assuming you play mp3 stuff) is to do the following from command line
    Code:
    cd desired_directory_name_here
    mpg321 --random *
    hth
    gnu/linux is not windoze

You are joking..as simple as that?...doh!

Never knew you could do this and I have been using amarok for years now.....should look embarrassed but I have done kubuntu by the seat of my pants now since dapper so have no shame!

      I love this stuff

      Many thanks for your help
