Then I opened Konsole and typed "sudo apt-get update" and that also didn't work either.

All this didn't get me Amarok 2.1. What am I doing wrong?

I had the same problem, but overcame it by (1) quitting from Amarok, and (2) running sudo apt-get dist-upgrade from the command line; it worked like a charm. 8)

Use sudo apt-get dist-upgrade (and first quit Amarok).

I don't know what the problem is, but it is not the GPG error, since I had the same thing many times and it never stopped me from upgrading. It just asks if you are REALLY sure you want to upgrade, but won't stop you. I also installed amarok 2.1 from the repos exactly as you show, but using synaptic to add the repository and sudo apt-get update then sudo apt-get upgrade (or dist-upgrade I don't remember) and it worked.

Maybe try again later?

You didn't say if you reloaded your sources or not, but it's necessary to do that before a new repository is found. Open a terminal and do "sudo apt-get update" (without quotes, of course, and your updates should appear. Usually when you add a repository it will ask you to reload because closing Kpackagekit.

The problem was that my package name was amarok-kde4 and Amarok 2.1 comes in package named amarok. So I removed amarok-kde4 and installed amarok. Now I have 2.1. Thank you for your help!

i hightly recommend using synaptic for package managment. you can install it by doing this in the konsole

Code:

sudo apt-get install synaptic

to fix your gpg issue(s) you want follow the steps here. (and any other time you add a new repo that has gpg key)

guys, if u are behind a firewall you have to open port 11371 which the keyserver port. pls refer to

After i adjusted my shorewall rules i could connect and download the key.
