kde3 application theme w/in kde4

How do I change the theme/custom color scheme of kde3 applications in my kde4/jaunty installation? I've googled this a bit and searched here but I don't really know what to search for...I had a question a while back that my openoffice was brown and now I found that it is probably getting its configuration from kde3, since my kde3 applications are all brown too. How can I change this so it's not brown anymore. I.e. how do I get system settings>appearance for the kde3 applications?

It appears kcmshell is listed in kdelibs4c2a. I'd try installing kdelibs4c2a and then open a terminal and run:

kcmshell style

Not sure if it will work. I don't have any KDE3 programs installed here. If it does work you can try changing other settings too. Like:

kcmshell colors
kcmshell icons
kcmshell fonts

Thanks for the thought. kcmshell is already installed, but none of the modules is. kcmshell4 of course has dozens of modules. So I'm stuck here.

Two new things. If I move the ~/.kde directory, then openoffice uses a more acceptable, presumably gtk theme. Further, I can narrow it down to ~/.kde/share/config , but within that I can't see which is the obvious culprit.

I suspect that it is picking up a configuration left over from 8.04, when I used kde3. I don't want to nuke the whole directory, but I guess I can go through and eliminate files one at a time.

Any ideas?

There are a couple ppa's with KDE3 for Jaunty. You could try installing kdebase-kde3 from one. Not sure how stable it is though.

That could work. However, brown applications may not be worth potentially destabilizing my system. I guess I'll check it out and see how much a change this'll cause before committing. Removing old config files one by one is looking better by comparison, though.
