The font installer in Kubuntu is MUCH more than an installer. In fact, if you want the same functionality in Windows, you usually have to pay extra for it. Nice.
But I got a question from a friend that is used to Windows about how many fonts Linux can handle and how it impacts performance. As I have no idea about this, I turn to the wise men and women of this forum. Do you have any thoughts on this?
He is a professional print designer and in Windows he activates/deactivates fonts as needed to keep the number of active fonts below 400. He has about 1500 fonts... His computer is not screamingly fast and he has about 2.5GB RAM.
