    Downgrading KDE

    Hi Folks,

Just installed Jaunty under vmware and discovered KDE 4 for the first time and not really enjoying the experience.

Is it possible to easily downgrade to KDE 3.5 or should I just start again and install 8.04?

    Thanks

    J

No easy way to downgrade, but before you install 8.04, you might want to check out the Jaunty KDE 3.5 Remix.

      Re: Downgrading KDE

Hi guys! I've tried to follow that guide to install both KDE 3 and 4, but as I've already have KDE4 that guide doesn't work, at least for me, as I get a lot of errors from apt-get:

      Code:
      $ sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop-kde3
      Leyendo lista de paquetes... Hecho
      Creando árbol de dependencias
Leyendo la información de estado... Hecho
kubuntu-desktop-kde3 ya está en su versión más reciente.
Tal vez quiera ejecutar `apt-get -f install' para corregirlo:
Los siguientes paquetes tienen dependencias incumplidas:
kde-guidance-kde3: Depende: python-kde3-kde3 pero no va a instalarse
kde-guidance-powermanager-kde3: Depende: python-kde3-kde3 pero no va a instalarse
E: Dependencias incumplidas. Intente 'apt-get -f install' sin paquetes (o especifique una solución).
and when I try to fix them:
      Code:
(Leyendo la base de datos ...
242359 ficheros y directorios instalados actualmente.)
      E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Did anyone got to downgrade from KDE4 to KDE3 successfully? How!?

        Re: Downgrading KDE

As it's in Vmware, it would be easier to install Hardy 8.04, and - as Rob_H suggested - the Jaunty re-mix is worth a look, but i don't seem to be able to get Stardict to run in that installation, although that is the only problem i have with it.
