Help please - creating Audacious 2.0.1 deb

Hi. I've always liked Audacious. The version in the repos is 1.5.1 and I'd like to use the latest (2.0.1). The old version doesn't work with pulse audio.

So, I've grabbed the source and would like to create a .deb, unless someone knows where I can find one already?

Is creating debs fairly easy? A link to a tutorial would be appreciated.

    Cheers.

I used to make debs all the time when kubuntu wasn't so sophisticated, there is a package called 'checkinstall' which will create a deb package for you.

You do need to know about 'make' and you will have to install the development packages to compile from source code. This isn't something you can learn to do in five minutes, but if you do a bit of reading up it's not that difficult.

Do a search to see if someone has built one first.

A link to more links > FAQ: Installing from source

Personal Package Archives for Ubuntu search > Show PPAs matching: Audacious reveals four links, but no binaries for the 2.0.1.
      Before you edit, BACKUP !

Why there are dead links ?

Thanks for the links. I'll have a look into it and if it looks too chewy, I'll just have to use another player.
