Xorg restarts with Kaffiene playing with subtitles

    Hi,

Am facing a problem with Subtitles on Kaffiene. I upgraded to Jaunty from hardy and now when I play and video with Kaffiene, while Subtitle are switched on Xorg restarts. Normal videos without subtiles switched on plays just fine.

Is this a know bug? the worst part is that there are no dmesg logs as well. Any help will be appreciated.

My problems with subtitles in Kaffeine on Intrepid ended up with changing to VLC media player.

I agree there are other players, I simply love kaffiene, and above all its not solution to the problem.

Maybe you use Kaffeine from Kubuntu repository, which is designed for KDE3. If so, and you insist on Kaffeine, try first pre-released Kaffeine for KDE4 from page http://kaffeine.kde.org/?q=node/22. There is also a list of known bugs on that site.

You can also try Kaffeine - Settings - Xine parameters - subtitles - expert settings - unset option separate.use_unscaled_osd, but subtitles will not be so nice.

This is a known bug that Kaffeine freezes a little in the moment, when a subtitle comes up. This was my problem, before I decided to wait for new, stable Kaffeine with VLC.
