Warning "Unauthorized' on update attempt (SOLVED)

I attempted to update 9.04 with the latest updates found and shown by Synaptic. However, the list of available updates is topped by dire warnings about the source of the updates that cannot be authorised. Updates could allow, the warning continues, a malicious person the damage the computer or take control of it.

Adept does not display this warning. Apt-get also does not have a corresponding warning message.

Does anyone have a similar warning?
    Is it Synaptic only?

I have not executed the updates yet. A virus scan produced no results.

    Thanks for any input.

Re: Warning "Unauthorized' on update attempt

It simply means that the updates maybe part of the universe repo or a non standard repo not maintained and secured by ubuntu.

If you want to install from other repos maybe get the pgp key so that when you upgrade pgp can check that the packages are genuine.

In a nutshell it doesn't matter unless you have updated your /etc/apt/sources.lst with a doubtful repo.

This is the addition to resources made just recently: http://ppa.launchpad.net jaunty Release.gpg [307B]

      I removed it.
The warning message is no longer displayed. As far as I can see the updates flagged above are no longer displayed.

      Problem solved?
