    Kile 2.0.82 (UNSTABLE) in Jaunty

I use latex a lot in my daily work and since kile is the best software to this work I use it a lot. I upgraded from intrepid to Jaunty in the weekend, and to my surprise jaunty is using an unstable and un finished version of Kile for KDE4. I think the kubuntu developers should take more care on these decisions because I need to use this app every day and i cannot use a version that is meant only for testing and i think the same goes for most of the kile users.

PS: Sorry for the bad english

I totally agree! Can anyone help me install a stable version? I tried to build 2.0.3 from the kile website from source, but it does not work - some KDE headers are missing and for some reason there is a conflict, which prevents me from installing the KDE-devel package...

Try older version 2.0.1 from intrepid repository http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/kile , or 2.0.3 from debian testing http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/kile , dependencies for jaunty are OK.

Thanks, diogosibert, I installed the intrepid version from the repos. The way I did it is I loaded my old sources.list from intrepid into apt-get, installed kile 2.0.1 and kdvi and then loaded the jaunty sources.list again.
Is there a more elegant way to do it? Because now I always get this update thing in the system tray telling me to update my Kile version...
Unfortunately I could not find a debian package for version 2.0.3 ... they only have the source packages...

At bottom of page http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/kile (or http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/kile ) there is table "Download kile", select your architecture and on next page select download location (any link).

Holding (preventing to upgrade) of current (installed) version of package:
sudo apt-get (or aptitude) hold package_name
          and reverting:
sudo apt-get (or aptitude) unhold package_name

OK, installing the debian package was successful. Thanks!

            But "holding" does not work.
            Code:
            sudo apt-get hold kile
            E: Invalid operation hold
When I try aptitude, I get the following:
            Code:
            sudo aptitude hold kile

Re: Kile 2.0.82 (UNSTABLE) in Jaunty

I found a "lock" option in Synaptic (GUI).

Just search for your package in Synaptic ('kile' in my case), click on it, an then select Package > Lock Version from the menu. Then kile is exempted from the updates.

So with Kile 2.0.3 and KDVI my LaTeX environment is back to normal!

Btw. does anyone know if inverse search in Okular is going to be implemented for PDFs as well? Than would be the only thing I miss since I switched from Vista+TeXnicCenter to kunbuntu+Kile.

Re: Kile 2.0.82 (UNSTABLE) in Jaunty

Hmm, i found other but working method:
To put a package to hold:
                echo "package_name hold"|sudo dpkg --set-selections

                to 'unhold' it:
                echo "package_name install"|sudo dpkg --set-selecions

To see what your packages on hold are, do an:

sudo dpkg --get-selections | grep hold
                Kubuntu 12.04 64bit
