Broken displays in the calendar in Kontact?

Just upgraded to 9.04, running KDE 4.2, and it appears that certain views in the Kontact Calendar module are broken.

When you have selected the month view, you see the grid of days of the month with existing appointments displayed in the right-side pane. But when you select day, 3-day, week, or workweek view, the area in which the day or days would be shown is blank. Even when I select a day range in which there is an existing appointment, the display is blank.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Is this a known bug? Is there a known fix or workaround?

I tried checking what you are describing, but can not get the same result. At least I think so. Could you post a screenshot to show what you mean?

Please see three attached screenshots:

DayView - in Kubuntu, Calendar display in single day mode, entire day display is missing;
DayViewSUSE - in openSUSE, Calendar display in single day mode, day and appointment are shown as expected.

By the way, if it's not too much trouble, I could use a tip on the use of the BBC tag for embedding an image in my message. Spent much more time than is reasonable without getting it to work. The forum "Help - Posting" was not much help.

My problem is that I have a very slow line and it is difficult to upload even small things. But I will try again.

To attach the picture, I used the attach file funtion here in the forum. Click on Additional Options under the editor and choose your file.

Otherwise, upload your picture somewhere and link to it here by clicking on the picture icon in the second row of buttons (second button from the left). Insert the link to the actual picture between the tags that appear (not a link to the page).

As you can see in the attached picture, I do not have the problem that you have with the calendar. My installation is Kubuntu 9.04 that has been upgraded since alpha 6. I will check with a friend if his version that was installed from the release version is different. I believe they should be the same.

I had the same issue. What I did to resolve the display problem was to close Kontact and close the Organizer tool tray icon as well. I then went to the menu and selected Applications, Office, KOrganizerand opened KOrganizer by itself. When it opened, it displayed the grids for day, week, weekday, etc. I then closed this program and re-opened Kontact. When Kontact opened, the grids were there for day, week and weekday.

Dont know why, but it worked. I also had to find the columns by hovering around the borders on the side and top so that I could fully display the fields used for date numbers, photo of the day, etc.

KDE has been updated to ver. 4.2.3 and you can get it from here:

https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+archive/ppa

Maybe that will fix your problem. Today I thought I got the same problem as you had as my daycalendar was gone. Just a blank space like you had. I then just clicked on the dayview button and the calendar was back.

But try the upgrade to 4.2.3 and let us know what happened.

I was having the exact same issue and 4.2.3 apparently fixed it.

But the ppa packages might not be for everyone... the 4.2.3 should make it to jaunty-backports when any issues are resolved, correct?

I do not know enough about how things work to be able to tell. I am pretty new on Kubuntu and trying to learn as much as possible. There was a bug that I was desperate to get rid of, so I thought I would try the upgrade. And so far I have not seen any problems at all.

I face the same problem, the calendar grids for daily, work-weekly and weekly view are just gone. I use KDE 4.2.3
Just restarting of the application or even the PC did not solve this.

Are there any more hints, how to solve this?

I found 2 solutions on other forums:

1)
For some reason, two panels are hidden. You'll see small dots at the bottom of the window; just drag them upwards and the panel should show up.

Try resetting the rc file and see if it works:
