Where are the KDE help files?

In several applications I've used so far in a new installation of 9.04, I've tried to access the application help and have gotten a KDE help center error message indicating that files are not found, and that no documentation is available for the given application.

Anyone else experiencing this problem? Is there a separate installation procedure I can use to get these files? Aren't these supposed to be there by default?

I'm experiencing quite a few problems with 9.04 so far. I'm also wondering if I've just had some random hiccup in the installation - considering doing the hated reinstall.

    Thanks for any assistance.

It is not only you. I have experienced the same a lot of times so far. I too thought the help files should be installed whenever you install a program, so I am a little lost here...

Someone out there will probably come to the rescue with a well chosen command :-)

        Two distinct problems

There seem to be two distinct problems here:

        (1) Many KDE application manuals were never written.

        (2) The mechanism for accessing those that have been written via the helpcenter is broken. Here's what I get when I try to create an index:

        Code:
        Creating index for 'kde_application_manuals'
        INDEXDIR: /home/pwa/.kde3/share/apps/khelpcenter/index/
        FINDCMD: find /opt/kde3/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/ -name index.docbook
        htdig failed
Perhaps someone can at least help with the second problem.
