Kickoff launcher hangs in JJ

Occasionally, in fact, rather frequently, my Kickoff launcher hangs. I click on the button and nothing happens, except for the popup box saying what it is.

I can create a new one with the cashew in the URH corner, but that ain't the way it's supposed to work.

I also had the same problem today. Restarting brought it back. I hope to never see it again.

Not quite a fix per se, but have you tried Lancelot? Personally I prefer it to Kickoff anyways, and since it's written entirely independently maybe it won't bug on you (it's quite customizable too, so you can make it act however you feel like a menu should act really).
