I'm just curious if anyone is experiencing problems similar to these?
My computer, on boot, uses a little over 500 MB of RAM to run Firefox, Kopete, the system monitor and a few other odds and ends, on 9.04 with KDE and desktop effects all turned on.
However, after launching Amarok and using it for a while to stream audio, and using Firefox to browse the intertubes for a little, I'm now using 974 MB of RAM (that's +470 MB, roughly).
Now, I have 4 GB of RAM so this is not a huge deal. But Xorg was using about 40-50 MB on boot and now it's guzzling 92 MB. Firefox is using a positively ludicrous 302 MB of RAM, and Amarok is up to 60 MB.
Last night I was using close to 1.4 GB of RAM before I got fed up and rebooted.
I'm almost certain it's Amarok and Firefox that are causing the issue, but I am considering switching to Seamonkey to see if the problem persists.
Also, does anyone know alternatives to Amarok which are just as good at streaming audio?
Thanks for any insights into this... hopefully updates will solve the problem if I'm patient.
