Removing Dolphin

Hi.

When I try to remove Dolphin i get the folowing result:

gnowak@t400:~$ sudo aptitude remove dolphin

So I can't keep my desktop if I wan't to uninstall Dolphin?

I just tried it and got the same, but you haven't said why you want to remove it.

I make a big assumption here by suggesting that you want konqueror as your file manager instead?

Have you considered simply configuring system settings/default applications to use konq as the file manager?

Well. I have Konqueror as default..

I think Dolphin is a humongous mistake!

Every dev hour spent on Dolphin should be used on other nice stuff I like 8) hehe.

So a way of showing my disappointment is to purge Dolphin from my system. But I can't...

Oh well, it takes all sorts!! Are you saying that if you purge Dolphin the developers will instantly see the error of their ways and abandon it forthwith?

I think the KDE devs have arranged it so you'll destroy your desktop if you try to nuke Dolphin.

If it's any comfort, it really doesn't take much disk space. Also, did you notice what happens if you push F4 while running Dolphin?

While full functionality has not been reached yet I do like the idea of tags - and it is so easy to do in dolphin Tag your files, pics, what have you and nepomuk will, one day, surprise you 8)

I like the F4 thing.

I am afraid I have yet to learn to appreciate tags.

The question of who is requiring dolphin is interesting. The messages shown are coming from the packaging dependencies, but those dependencies may be in place because of dependencies in the software from KDE.

The "f4" shortcut also exists in Konqueror, not integrated though. I don't care if it's big or small... i just wanna get rid of Dolphin.. :P

And who needs this F4 thingy if you have yakuake - much better!
