    lost "floating" desktop

Hey, I just installed Kubuntu 9.04 beta 1. On first boot, I noticed right away the "floating" desktop in KDE4, (which I LOVE), had a home folder, and trash can in it. Nice, I thought.

Then I did a full upgrade, and reboot. Now, I have lost my floating desktop all together. Any idea how to get it back? I really like it. One of the things that make KDE4 look so classy.

    Thanks.

You are talking about the new Folder View. Check out the youtube video I linked on Folder View. It does a decent job explaining it. It's still under development but coming along nicely. It's one of the new features I like.

Try right clicking on the desktop and active the widgets the choose "add new widget" and see if there is a red "minus" sign next to folder view. If there is click on it. Then add folder view to your desktop again.

If that does not work try:
      Code:
      kquitapp plasma
      Code:
      rm ~.kde/share/config/plasma-appletsrc
      Code:
      plasma
This will reset your desktop to default.
