    Quick question on Adept

I recently converted from Gentoo to Kubuntu Jaunty. So far I'm really impressed but Adept is driving me crazy. It's not a big deal since I can use the debian command-line tools to update but I'd like to use Adept. When I launch Adept (version 3.0 beta 4) I can see all the categories and packages in each category. The minute I do a search there doesn't appear to be a way to go back to the original listing and search a different category. Am I missing something? Thanks.

The Adept is unmaintained (?) > Farewell, Adept

    With the Jaunty Alpha-6 > JauntyJackalope/Alpha6/Kubuntu
Alpha 6 brings us a new software manager , KPackageKit. the KDE front-end to packagekit. It is installed by default, alongside Adept Installer and Adept Manager. Please try it out and report any bugs!

Yeah I noticed there's a new package manager in the new release. Time to update.

        Re: Quick question on Adept

I never really cared for Adept. It seemed to break far too often. But, my opinion is probably colored by the fact that it was broken the first time I ever installed Kubuntu and did a dist-upgrade.

After seeing this thread, I just now installed kpackagekit (I didn't get it installed via apt-get dist-upgrade... is that a bug?).

The very first time I ran kpackagekit, I was presented with a blank window. Clicking the "okay" button closed the program. So, it's already making a bad impression on me. (It seems to run "fine" on subsequent runs)

I know that Synaptic isn't the default because it uses GTK... but at least it *always* works. It's the first non-default package I install on a new system, even though I usually install packages from the command line.
