    [solved] Manually retrieve packages from repository?

    How does one manually download a package from a repository?
    By which I mean, using "save link as..." from a browser, bypassing the apt system altogether.
    Reason: apt is refusing a download, for what I think is a bogus reason.
    Yes, I know the risks; that's what nightly backups are for...

    Yes, you can download packages from the repositories

    ubuntu main: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/

    Pool has the packages: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/

    Dists has the package index files for the different versions: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/
