After todays upgrades plasma is dying, workaround.

    After todays upgrades:

    kdebase-workspace-dev 4:4.2.0-0ubuntu6
    kdebase-workspace-libs4+5 4:4.2.0-0ubuntu6
    kdebase-workspace-bin 4:4.2.0-0ubuntu6
    kdebase-workspace-data 4:4.2.0-0ubuntu6
    kdebase-workspace 4:4.2.0-0ubuntu6
    libqt4-core 4.5.0~+rc1-0ubuntu1
    libqtcore4 4.5.0~+rc1-0ubuntu1
    ... etc

=> reboot => plasma is dying and the apport ( /usr/share/apport/apport-qt) was telling:
    plasma crashed with SIGSEGV
    ...
    Package: kdebase-workspace-bin 4:4.2.0-0ubuntu6
    ...
    ProblemType: Crash
    ...

    Workarounds that were working:

    Sledge Hammer

Renaming of the .kde directory (and building new settings) did help.

Trying to rebuild the desktop and when adding the quicklaunch plasma widget => plasma dies ! Restoring the .kde from the backup file and...

    Nondestructive

    Editing ~/.kde/share/config/plasma-appletsrc
and removing there markings to the quicklaunch plasma widget.

Here the quicklaunch plasma widget (plasmoid) is killing the whole plasma desktop.

Must be quicklaunch related. I'm having a hard time with akregator, but otherwise everything works as it should.

        Bug reports:

        > Quicklaunch plasma applet causes Plasma crash w/ Qt 4.5 rc1
        > plasma crashed with SIGSEGV

        Looking Qt version => Version: 4.5.0~+rc1-0ubuntu1 !!

The plan was > Kubuntu Jaunty KDE Packaging >> full specification
        - Akonadi
        - kdesudo
        - Qt 4.5 and Konqueror+kdewebkit by default
        - ...

Maybe this is > aseigo: Plasma, Qt 4.5, Tokamak, etc.
We (the Plasma team) would like Plasma in 4.2 to work with Qt 4.5. Obviously, this is also what the wider KDE and Qt community wants to. As they say, however, you don't always get what you want...

..So in summary: using Qt 4.5 with Plasma in KDE 4.2 right this minute will result in less than perfect results; we're working on it; help us and it'll go faster; eventually running Plasma in KDE 4.2 with Qt 4.5 will be smoothly doable...

Hmm... I had to reinstall JJ from the daily yesterday because vmware-player bundle took out my networking.

After reinstall JJ seems very slugish compared to before but quickaccess works fine.

          I have:
          kdebase-workspace-dev 4:4.2.0-0ubuntu6
          kdebase-workspace-libs4+5 4:4.2.0-0ubuntu6
          kdebase-workspace-bin 4:4.2.0-0ubuntu6
          kdebase-workspace-data 4:4.2.0-0ubuntu6
          kdebase-workspace 4:4.2.0-0ubuntu6

          But synaptic cannot find:
          libqt4-core 4.5.0~+rc1-0ubuntu1
          libqtcore4 4.5.0~+rc1-0ubuntu1

          These are awaiting upgrade:
          libc6
          libc6-dev
          libc-i686
