WLAN Card (SMCWPCI-G2 ) causes system crashes

    Hi,

    i have s mysterious problem.
My PC crashes unregularely and does not leave any helpful info in the syslogs.
I have tried many things but nothing helped. 2 days ago i removed my WLAN Card (SMCWPCI-G2 ) and since then the system has not crashed anymore!

Kubuntu has automatically installed this WLAN Card without any problems, errors, warnings. And i could immediately connect to the internet...

But i think this Card is the source of my problem.

Do you think this is a software/driver problem? Or is it more likely to be a hardware problem, e.g.: the card/chipset is simply not eligible for Linux?

can you recommend a card/chipset that is most suitable for kubuntu?

    thx!

There's a white block with what looks like a mobile phone drawn within it on the bottom right had side of my task bar. A message pops-up when I hover my mouse cursor over it: "Network Management is Changing! It is highly unstable and will crash your desktop. Until further notice please use KDE 4 knetworkmanager instead."

Are your crashes related to not using knetworkmanagement?

    Just a suggestion
