    Cannot connect after reboot

    Hello,

I installed Kubuntu 9.04 on my laptop and everything worked perfect. I was able to connect to the internet with no problem. I turned off my computer and later that day I turned it back on and now I can't connect.

All the other computer in the house can connect to the internet just fine.

In the "Devices recently plugged in: " box there is nothing.

    Computer Specs:

    Lenovo G550 Notebook
    Intel T4200 (2.0GHz) Processor
    15.6 " WXGA LED Backlight TFT 1366 x 768
    2GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz
    250GB Hard Drive 5400
    Broadcom 11b/g Wi-Fi wireless
    Intel Integrated Graphics X4500
    6 Cell Lithium-Ion Battery

    Re: Cannot connect after reboot

    I figured it out.

apparently its a common problem for people. they install linux, reboot and their wireless doesn't work anymore.
the solution was to use restricted drivers (i.e. non-free drivers from the company).

    broadcom released drivers for:

    Broadcom Corporation BCM4312

    http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php

The README tells you how to install them.

and its always good to make sure you have "connect automatically" checked in your network manager [System settings then go to your connection settings, wireless tab]
