I have a Compaq Presario CQ70-127nr running Kubuntu 9.04 and haven't been able to get my wireless working. Initially there was a restricted driver which I was able to enable but as soon as I restarted the driver disappeared from the list and hasn't ever shown up again. So I tried NDISWrapper and downloaded the driver and it always says "Hardware Present: No". So I downloaded Compat-Wireless and that at least allowed the wireless section to show up in the network manager but I still can't connect to any wireless networks. I don't know what else to try and this is getting really frustrating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

a lot of pepole seam to like wicd and it's in the repos.
I cant beleve ndiswrapper dident work? you sead and dowladed the driver? what driver?
ndiswrapper is used to install a windows xp driver for your wireless device.....it's not a driver it's self
but eney way try wicd if nothing elce is working.

Re: Can't Get My Wireless Working. Please Help.
Yes, I know how NDISWrapper works and yes I downloaded the proper Intel PRO drivers but when I loaded them it said my hardware wasn't present...which...obviously it is.
I installed Wicd, but still it says no wireless networks can be found.
Also, whatever Compat-Wireless was doing before it doesn't seem to be working anymore, the wireless section is gone again.

Re: Can't Get My Wireless Working. Please Help.
After further probing of NDISWrapper I seem to have found the problem with it, but I still don't know how to fix it.
When I input
Code:modprobe ndiswrapper
Code:WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist, it will be ignored in a future release.

Re: Can't Get My Wireless Working. Please Help.
did you do ALL the ndiswrapper comands
#1- ndiswrapper -i driver.inf <ware DIVER is the name of the windows driver .inf file >
#2- ndiswrapper -m
#3- ndiswrapper -ma
#4-ndiswrapper -mi
and NOW
modprobe ndiswrapper
the other comands are
-m write configuration for modprobe
-ma write module alias configuration for all devices
-mi write module install configuration for all devices
