    Authenticating wired connection with 802.1x

Well, just as the name states i'm trying to connect to a network that requires 802.1x authentication. But i can't find where to configure the username and password whatsoever. I'm running kubuntu 9.04 it's a clean install.
From windows i connect using an application called "Ruijie Supplicant" but i figured that by just configuring the "802.1x" would work just fine. Any of you guys have an idea of how to connect?

IEEE 802.1x is a standard for LAN, WAN and other cable connections.

When you say authenticate, do you mean supply a username and a password?
If so, then you probably have a DSL pppoe connection and should read this

    Other options: http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3100052.0

Hope one of these helps. If not, look at http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?board=104.0
and try one of the many entries under Jaunty Networking

      Thanks for the reply...
And sorry, i forgot to mention I'm trying to get connected on my university network so it's not a dsl user/password. It's the user/password they gave me to use their network.
The second link you gave me requires network connection to proceed... so it's a no no either (that's what assume, since i have to update and download more apps).

I'm actually looking for any solved post regarding this... but no luck. still researching.

      Thanks in regards

My guess in that case is you probably only need to open Konqueror or Firefox and type in the address of the uni - it may be something like 168.192.100.1
Once you have that, it will connect to the Uni login page and ask you for your username and password, then enter that, you can choose to save it with either firefox or konqueror, then next time you log in it remembers it for you. For security, you may choose not to save the name and password. You should then bookmark that page as "Uni" or something significant.
