Why my DSL connection in network setting is disabled?

I m a newbie in Linux.I just installed my Kubuntu 9.04,very easy and gd GUI.But 1 things,when I want to setup a DSL connection, it is disabled in network management.WHY??
can anybody help?

Reading this forum, there are a number of users not happy with KDE Network Manager.
Some have suggested removing the Network Manager and installing the Gnome Network Manager instead.

If you can give more specific details of your DSL connection, it may help others to help you too.
