how to connect vpn pptp in kubuntu ?

    Hi
I installed kubuntu few days ago, but i can't connect to VPN which use pptp protocol.
Before kubuntu, i installed ubuntu in gnome environment and I found pptp-network manger package and I successfully connected to pptp vpn network. but in kubuntu it seems that it is impossible !
how i can connect to pptp vpn in kubuntu ? Is there somebody who managed it ?

***and important thing : please don't tell me use 'sudo get-apt install package name' since i have not connection to internet in kubuntu due this problem ! But I can download package manually in windows
(from packages.ubuntu.com) and transfer them to kubuntu partition , for example i downloaded some package like kvpnc & network-manager-pptp & gamin but how i can install them manually ?

and thanks a lot for your help

Re: how to connect vpn pptp in kubuntu ?

Even I could not use VPN/PPTP in Kubuntu 9.04 default plasmoid network manager.

So I uninstalled it and installed some of these packages, I am not sure what are the dependencies and what else you need to download, so try your luck!

    network-manager-gnome, network-manager-pptp, gnome-keyring, gnome-keyring-daemon.

Installed them, then in /etc/xdg/autostart/nm-applet.desktop file I edited the line like "OnlyStartIn=GNOME;XFCE;" and added "KDE;" to it...

Now GNOME's network manager starts with KDE and I am able to work with static IP and also configure and use VPN/PPTP !

I got this idea after testing Fedora 11 Beta KDE version which by default has the GNOME network manager running...

The steps are from my memory they may not be exact, I'm hoping you are able to handle any hurdles on your own!

      @qwer99
The files that you download from packages.ubuntu.com are .debs and they are very easily installed by selecting them in your graphic file browser such as dolphin or konqueror. The packages are unpacked and installed by the package manager and the end result is the same as if you had working connection and got them using synaptic or adept or sudo apt-get install.

Thanks for the information, that is very interesting.
Did you look at /etc/network/interfaces, or
      /etc/ppp/options or /etc/ppp/peers or /etc/ppp/resolv ?

No I didn't need to do anything other than install GNOME network-manager and plugins, everything configured and working via the GUI...
