Kubuntu 9.04 doesn't boot after upgrade

    Hello!
    I'm new in *nix world.
I've installed and tuned Kubuntu 9.04. All worked fine. Then I ran a command a kind of "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" or so.
System downloaded and installed about 200Mb of data. After reboot system doesn't start up. X system freezes with some snow on screen.
Well, can someone tell how to diagnose the problem? What to do first?
    Thanks a lot!

first I'd try the boot into recovery moad when you first boot the box.

you may half to hit esc real quick if Kubuntu is the onley system you have.

once in recovery moad at the botom of the list is somthing like repare x or the like........do it if you can then get back.

get to CLI ........eather in recovery moad or let it boot as far as it will and try ctrl>alt>F6 and see if you get a log in?

and if you do do a

        sudo apt-get update

        then

        sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

        then

        sudo apt-get -f install

        then

        sudo dpkg --configure -a

and see if eneything brings a change
