This appears to be some kind of Debian issue, but that's just my amateur read on it. Here's the whole upgrade output. Ignore the Areca "serious warning". Areca runs fine, and OS upgrades have been happening fine in spite of this. NOTE the failure to do SOME of the upgrades, noted near the bottom, and the link offered. I went there, and it's incomprehensible (to me) Debian babble.
Questions: Might I expect this problem to "get resolved" by the OS gurus, in the fullness of time? Or is there something I should do myself? Any help would be, uh, helpful (and appreciated!).
