Laptop powers off midway through installation

Hey all, currently trying to get 9.04 installed on a Toshiba Satellite A70 laptop, but the laptop powers down unexpectedly around 40% of the way through the installation.
    Ubuntu installed without problems.
Any ideas what I might try to get it working? Is there any other information I can supply to help figure out what the problem is?

I would say, could it be FAQ#1?

Otherwise, you can try different boot options (lino acpi=off, noacpi, noapic, nolapic), but it is probably faster to just make an ubuntu install, then add the kubuntu-desktop package, and then spend a little time cleaning up gnome. If you remove the main components, you can use gtkorphan to remove all the orphaned libraries. HTH!
