    Kernal Update Screws NVIDIA

I just ran the latest kernel update today, using sudo install dist-upgrade.

When I rebooted the following message appeared:

Following Error Was Encountered. You May Need to Update Your Configuration to Solve:

(EE) Failed to load module "type 1" (module does not exist, 0)

(EE) Failed to load module "freetype" (module does not exist, 0)

(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize NVIDIA kernel, please see the systems' kernel log for additional error messages and consult NVIDIA Reademe

    ****ABORTING****

Screen(s) found, but non hvae usable configuration.

What gives? How can I get my lovely KDE back?

How did you install the driver to begin with? It should be built for the new kernel when you update (via something called "dkms").

IN order to get some graphics, you may want to reboot in "recovery" mode, and choose the option to repair graphics, hopefully that will do!

I think the new driver was installed with the dist-upgrade. I didn't do anything deliberately to change the driver.

How do I reboot into "recover" mode?

When you reboot, you choose the "recovery" option in the boot menu for your kernel.
