Upgrade from K. Intrepid to Jackalopade failed, after login just a black screen.

I'm quite new to Linux OS. So, when I try to upgrade from kubuntu Intrepid to Jackalopade typing:
    - kdesudo "adept_manager --dist-upgrade-dlevel"

I supposed the process failed and the screen get stock at one point (I did not notice which one because the screen was difuse when I get back to my computer). I did not give any instruction or accept the upgrade, just the computer was stocked. I rebot and restart the computer to see what changes happened. I am using dual boot (windows and linux) the dialog was the same, the screen to login into Kubuntu change its looking, I typed my password and I could login but after that, nothing but a black screen on my computer.

Can anyone know how to invert this upgrade or undo the changes could happen with this upgrade process?

    Do you have ATI graphics?

I've yet to have an "upgrade" work. 0 for 3 here, FWIW.

Most upgrades have worked fine for me, but this time fglrx did not come up after the upgrade and it was a bit painful (for a newbie it would have been a no-go, because repair mode would not fix it). It wasn't Kubuntu's fault though. I was ATI's binary driver, which is know to be quite shaky in Linux. Thankfully AMD/ATI opened their documentation, and the open source driver works great but they are is still no 3D in the newer chipsets, like mine. I think I will open a bug report in Launchpad suggesting to disable binary drivers on an upgrade, let the enable them after the upgrade. Oh well.
