Hi,
I am so excited with jaunty with kde 4.2! i like it very much. I switched from WinXP.
BUT! It feels so slow sometimes.
I have desktop effects enabled - they are nice smooth. But sometimes - sucks. I run gwenview and need to wait so loong time. Work with open office is slow. Inkscape - so sloow. And sometimes when kubuntu is "thinking" and I get bluescreen with logon dialog (so all my unsaved work is lost).
I was thinking whether I should switch to KDE 3.5. Will my computer be faster?
Once I used Ubuntu 8.04 (gnome) and the speed was better than this. Is it worth to downgrade to 8.10 (with kde 3.5)?
I have AMD Athlon X2 4800+ or similar and 1GB RAM
in other words? how to achieve better speed with *buntu? speed in WinXP is nice. Or time to think about other distro?
Thanks for advice
