Will Kubuntu run smooth on my laptop? What are the exact requirement?

The following are the basic specification of my old laptop:

    CPU: Intel Centrino 1.4ghz
    RAM: 512 mb
    Graphic: Intel 82855 (64mb shared)
    Hard disk: 60 GB (C: 10, D: 50)
Current OS: Windows XP Home Edition SP2

Conditions: Damaged internal CD-ROM. Cannot boot from USB.

Note: I will install Kubuntu with Wubi from Kubuntu CD with USB CD-ROM in Windows.

    Any reply will be appreciated.

Yes, it should run fine on that hardware. Here are the requirements for the prior version:

The broken optical drive is not helpful, nor is the lack of USB boot capability. But you should be able to do the WUBI installation from win XP as you plan, and then run Kubuntu.

If for some reason the WUBI installer won't work (I doubt it, but just in case), can you network boot with that laptop? That's actually how I've done my last bunch of Kubuntu installs, but I won't lie it's not nearly as easy to set up in the first place as popping in a CD and using WUBI so I only mention it as a failsafe.
