I'm posting this in case someone has a similar problem. I found this on 2 computers that were
Upgrade from 8.10. No problems on a clean install in a 3rd Computer.
I encountered this problem when I went to install Virtualbox I received an error message about
VirtualBox seeing 2 Generics. I went to Synaptic and saw Linux kernal 2.6.27-11 and 2.6.28-11 installed. I ran uname -r and I was using 2.6.27-11 and virtualbox wanted 2.6.28-11.
Using synaptic I ran dpkg --audit no error Then I removed 2.6.28-11 and ran sudo dpkg --configure -a sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. Would not upgrade to 2.6.28-11.
The only way I could get 2.26.28-11 was to use synaptic to Install 2.6.28-11, the Install also updated
my Grub menu.
