Installing 9.04 on Dell Precision T5400 fails...

When I try to boot onto the CD to install Kubuntu 9.04, and it tries to start the GUI, it just bombs out....

I'm a linux engineer but I shouldn't have to modify the ISO image to get this to install properly....

It won't even startX... it just drops me to a CLI and says failed to open display... Does it matter if I have 2 monitors plugged in during installation? Any help would be appreciated. Thx

I've heard that having 2 monitors plugged in can cause problems on install. Try disconnecting one just for the installation.

If that doesn't work, then you probably have a bad CD.

I tried installing with just one monitor and it says "no screens found"........wtf? Does it not like the quadro FX cards I am using?

I'm running dual Nvidia Quadro NVS 290 video cards....... 4GB ram and 2 x 160GB drives...

Or should I just go back to v8? I really want to try ext4 and KDE4!

You might try going back to v. 8 and upgrading from within Adept (though I'm not certain you can switch to ext4 that way).
