    AMD64 fgirx driver

I am trying to upgrade Kubuntu from Intrepid Ibex to Jaunty Jackalope on my Dell Inspiron 1501, Amd Turion64.
During the upgrading process, the system warns that the Amd64 fgirx graphic driver is not supported.
I have suspended the upgrade. Any Suggestion?
I have originally chosen Amd64 built but i have had some compatibility problems, whereas i haven't really perceived any advantage with respect to standard x86 architecture.
It is possible to pass from 64-bit architecture to standard x86?
    Thank you for the support

    Re: AMD64 fgirx driver

The fglrx driver is only related to your graphics card. So it doesn't matter if you install a x86 or a 64-bit architecture. I guess you got this error message because your grapics card is to old. As far as I know only the Radeon X1000 Series or higer is supported by the fglrx driver. Otherwise you have to use the open source drivers and hope that they do their job on your system
