I have just installed Kubuntu 9.04. Everything seems to work fine but there is no sound. How can fix this? I have the volume up and in the sound mixer nothing is mute. I heard that this version of Kbunutu is quite buggy. Is it true?
I don't know if this helps, but my sound isn't working when I boot up. Quickly Toggling the sound off and on with the mute button on my keyboard gets it going. A niggle, but I'm sure it'll be sorted out soon. Hope that works for you too.
If you don't know your mute button, I'm sure you can set one up from the system settings > keyboard & mouse > global keyboard shortbuts, then look under the kmix options.
It seems that updating to 9.04 is asking for trouble.
In the first post it says "installed" and here it says "updating" -- what, exactly, did you do?
Your sound hardware is relevant to the problem too -- can you share?
FAQ #6 in the link in my signature has the link to the *buntu sound troubleshooting page -- you should follow that procedure to narrow down the nature of the problem.

I get this. Which one is the correct one?
