    hotmail. klipper. screen resolution, bbc news video

    I cannot access my hotmail account; the page freezes; both on live cd and on installed OS.
    When klipper is first used on starting the comp there is some peculiar partial comments which requires that one clears klipper before using.
    I changed the screen resolution from (native) 1920x1200 to 1440x900. When the comp is restarted it is back to the native resolution. Just going to systems>display and just clickng on the display icon changes it to 1440x900. every tme.
    BBC News video. no go. am told that i have the wrong flash version
    The help button on Kpackagekit is greyed out.
    which of the synaptic packages do i need to download.

    when I enter your command in a terminal I get:
    bash: sudu: command not found

    so I changed to "su apt-get install adept"
    and get:

    Unknown id: apt-get

    so i try
    kdesu apt-get install adept
    and get:
    kdesu: command not found

      It is a useragent issue:
      In the firefox address bar, enter in:
      Code:

      about:config

      Click the "I'll be careful, I promise!" button.
      Navigate to general.useragent.vendor
      and change it's value from Ubuntu to Firefox.
      Quit firefox, then try hotmail. There's a chance I may have this wrong, possibly a lowercase f in firefox is needed to be used if this does not work.

      -- I believe I needed to do that, but it has been a while. Give it a try.

      Found my original post from a while back... I had just deleted the particular user agent string instead of replacing it as above...

        One of my problems is that I do not have firefox and the adept listing gives so many choices that I am lost.
        I clicked the help button but it said there was no help!
        If you could suggest which of the firefox selections that I should download it would be a big help.

          you are right
          The sudo command is available. I typed it as "sudu"
          sorry to have mislead you.
          Also aptitude is present
          Am now reading up on "aptitude"
