Severe issues with Jaunty

Hi I am using a R52 laptop to install Kubuntu JJ 9.04 and when I tried to run
the live CD, the monitor just faded away and I get a command prompt.
What could be wrong ?
I've never had any issues with live CD before, did it fail to find the drivers
or did it fail to set to the correct screen resolution ? how do I take it forward ?

Thanks,
Maindoor

And, verify that you ran an md5sum check on the iso before you burned it and the iso was valid.

I think it is the " Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 900 ".

and I just verified the checksum it is fine too. it matches perfectly.

Let me know if you need to find out more.

You are probably not going to be happy with the last post on this site:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...el/+bug/297387

In general the Intel hardware has although not the slickest very good Linux support and many others did get this card working.

One option is to add xforcevesa to the boot options line:
Base Installation

1. At the Ubuntu install menu select the help option, which will bring up the Boot Options line. Type live xforcevesa and hit enter. The installer will then load the kernel and begin the installation process. It is normal for the progress bar to freeze for a short period of time. Have patience.

Sorry...xforcevesa option didn't work for me outright. Maybe I did it wrong...
doesn't matter....I was hoping it would work right out of the box...this is just plain said
at least for me. Guess I just have to sit and wait until xserver-xorg-video-intel has
complete support. Thank you for your support.
