    Weird red screen while booting

Hm, apparently the problem was fleeting, so I'm just wondering whether anyone else has had this:

Today, I booted up as normal, just having installed the 9.04 release candidate the night before (no problems). I hear continuous beeping while I'm in the other room, like one of the keys on my keyboard is down. I come back and rub the keyboard down to release any potentially lodged keys, and reboot.

Now, the beeping is gone but I get this red screen that progressively takes up more space on my screen, instead of the usual black w/logo Kubuntu loading bar. The red screen luckily disappears and I get the logon, which works fine.

As soon as I log in, there are no further problems. I'll try to see if the problem persists.

But has anyone else experienced something like this before?

OK, on reset, I was not able to reproduce the problem. That's definitely a good sign!

When shutting down I got a strange white screen with vertical black bars, though. That was strange.

Still, all systems are go, or so it appears.
