Re: Enable the ctrl-alt-backspace combination

Wierd. Wonder why a search didn't locate it - for me?

Added: Hmm. A quoted search on:

"I like the subtle hint of the Jackalope in the lower left corner." locates only your original post (in the correct location as you've pointed me to). Does that mean that KFN's search engine ignores quoted text in posts - text in quote boxes?

It's called SysRq magic, and you can find the key sequences in here, for example:

        Re: Enable the ctrl-alt-backspace combination

I have used the whole skinny elephant reisub thing before when my pc used to freeze more but not this one which now gives me two ways to get grumpy with my pc ...cool!

Now I still want a release after jaunty to have the windows key to be assigned to either

"oops...the last half hour was a mistake..take me back 30 minutes please"

"shutdown now ....you frustrating piece of junk"

"stop changing my xorg/grub I have no idea what I am doing"

You could also adapt it to have 'sticky key' level that determines the relationship between the viciousness with which you hit the key with the speed you require it to shutdown

You could also have windows 1 -9 to determine how many hours of hard and wasted work you want to forget

Running Kubuntu Karmic Koala with KDE 4.3 at home

Kubuntu user 24342

Running Dell Inspiron 530 Dual Core 3ghz

and also running Kubuntu on a Lenovo thinkpad using a live pen drive

Still no Microsoft here!

          There's also
          kill -9 kdm
          or (perhaps more gracefully
          /etc/init.d/kdm restart

you can shutdown this way too
            Code:
            sudo shutdown -P 00
basicly its shutdown and poweroff now
hope that helps for the time being
