    Re: Can't read 720K floppies

You could always purchase some DS/DD 720 K floppies. I still say the price is outrageous, and you may be able to find some used ones if you skulk around certain dark corners of the Internet. Here are some possible leads for you:

    http://www.crcsales.com/floppy_diskette.htm

    eBay search results

In my opinion though, network cable isn't so expensive and data is more precious than gold.

Thanks. Though it'd probably be a bit pricey to ship from overseas.

But the data would be safe enough. It would only have to be transported from one computer/harddisk to another. IOW, nothing would actually be lost in case of a floppy disk failure.

Then take the initiative to discover a source of floppies near you. I only provided a short list of possible leads as an example. Your web browser should be just as capable of accessing Google as mine.

        Or purchase a network cable.

Or build a crossover cable to go between computers.

Or pick any other method mentioned in this thread so far, or any other thread your search results may have turned up, and make it work for yourself. When done, write a HowTo to help others who may face the same issues.

The "use some random old floppy until it wears out" method works for me... mostly the topic was about getting 720K floppies to work in Ubuntu, which it turns out they already did, so all is fine now!
