    No Mouse after reinstall

    Hi
I've kubuntu Jaunty 9.04 installed in a multiboot kubuntu/vista/XP for several months without issue

Last week I received my Windows 7 disk from MS and upgraded my vista to windows 7

Of course this wiped out GRUB and left me with a multiboot win7 / winXP box - No kubuntu

I reinstalled Jaunty 9.04 all went famously until the first boot after install

At the logon screen the mouse cursor was frozen
Logged in - mouse still frozen

changed from ps2 mouse to usb mouse no change on the screen mouse cursor still frozen

Booted from live CD - Mouse works fine

Reinstalled kubuntu Mouse works fine during install - fails on post install reboots

I have used the Numeric keypad cursor keys to move the mouse cursor keys and
that allows me to see that the system settings thinks there is a mouse

Is there any way to force the mouse component to reinstall or force mouse/hardware detection

    Regards
    Wayne

    Re: No Mouse after reinstall

Mmm, perhaps reboot in rescue mode and run the fix X (graphics) option? Another idea would be to bring the latest updates if you can (Alt-F2, Konsole, and then "sudo apt-get update" and "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade".

    HTH!

      Re: No Mouse after reinstall

tried all those suggestions just now - thank goodness for keyboard shortcuts.
      Unfortunately no change

I guess a clean reinstall would fix it

I have a backup of my home folders but I had it all set up to suit my needs
      music, usb, vmware etc

But it seems this may be a problem experienced by more people as Windows 7 comes out
and I really would like to get to the bottom of this
Maybe it's the KDE - Can I change to Gnome ?

I can boot the live CD and mount the hd0 filesystem

Maybe there is some conf file I could edit .....

Or compare two conf files and see the error.
I can do stuff like that but do not know where to look

      Regards
