    nVidia BAR1 error

Hi All, I have a acer aspire 9815 laptop and have placed 4GB of kingston RAM inside, but the nVidia is crashing out because it appears that what I thought was onboard graphics card 256MB dedicated RAM it appears to be taken from the main memory RAM instead. The errors include BAR1 and no screens found, thus I have tried the Karmic 9.10 edition and with the 2GB back in it works fine and from reading other posts it seems to be down to a PCI IOMEM RAM kernel module upgrade .30 / .31 from here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...80/+bug/342926 , but the karmic includes this kernel and it does not appear to work with the nvidia driver still with the 4GB inside.. just wondering if there is any kernel options I have to pass to the kernel on the image ? or something else ?

Also with the 4GB installed it appears that the frame buffer does not work either since I am not able to see the grub beta version OS selection screen.

On the other posts it recommends to flash the BIOS, but I have not done this, I am using the BIOS 2.04 and 2.14 is out on the ACER website, but I have asked Acer support but they have not advised if that BIOS for the 9810 will work correctly on my 9815 laptop.

    Anyadvice would be greatful.

    Re: nVidia BAR1 error

It appears that I am going to have to wait for the Kernel PCI IOMEM update to be included so that it does it dynamic allocation of free memory better.

    King regards
