I just swapped the nvidia mx4000 for a 6200.
Before I did that I switched back to the nv
driver. I then ran 'sudo apt-get purge nvidia-*'.
After the card was replaced all ran fine with
the nv driver. I then installed nvidia-180-kernel-source,
nvidia-180-modaliases, nvidia-glx-180. I then
ran nvidia-xconfig and rebooted. Everything was
fine until the kdm login screen which was black.
I tried the previous xorg.conf with no luck. I
have now purged everything nvidia- again and am
looking for advice on what to do next. I'm
sure I've overlooked something important. I
also would prefer to use the drivers in the repos.
The only reason I replaced the mx4000 was to get
desktop effects working better.
Thanks for any info.
