System freezes when rebooting or shutting down

    Hi to all,
I've bought my asus pro5avn laptop at the end of February and I've installed kubuntu 8.10 amd64, then at the beginning of August I've upgraded to 9.04. Two days ago I've had a system freeze while I was using the system (I've tried the Alt+Sys+REISUB but since it has not rebooted the system I have had to switch the pc off abruptly) and since then I was not able to reboot or shut down the system because the system hangs after the "Will now halt" message has happeared without effectivelyturn off (or reboot) the system. I can reboot it using Alt+Sys+REISUB.
Before the "Will now halt" message I can see what seem a stack trace of a kernel oops which seems related to the mac80211 driver and, infact, if I execute:
sudo modprobe -r iwlang before rebooting or shutting off, the pc is correctly rebooted or turned off.
I've tried to reinstall the kernel and I've reinstalled also the old kernel from 2.6.28-11 onward (all the kernels present in the repository) but the problem persist.
    How can I solve?
Why all of a sudden this bug has happeared? May it be related to the first freeze with maybe some configuration file got corrupted? Is there a way to check configuration and device files?
    Should I open a bug?
    Thank you for your help,
    Xwang
